JASON MOMOA IS LOBO! ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ Trailer Breaks the Internet with Perfect Casting Reveal

DC Studios unleashed the first official teaser trailer for its highly anticipated 2026 film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, yesterday, instantly sending the internet into a frenzy with one electrifying reveal: a first look at Jason Momoa as the intergalactic bounty hunter, Lobo.

Supergirl LOBO

The trailer, directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella), confirms that the former Aquaman star has officially jumped to a new, and long-desired, role in the DC Universe reboot.

Momoa’s Dream Role Arrives

For years, Jason Momoa openly campaigned to play “The Main Man,” and the brief-but-explosive shot in the trailer proves why. Stepping out of smoke and chaos, Momoa is fully transformed into the Last Czarnian, sporting the character’s signature chalk-white skin, glowing red eyes, and heavy biker gear ripped straight from the comics.

Fan reaction was immediate and overwhelmingly positive, with many calling it “perfect casting” and “the most hype I have felt for DC in years.” DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn has previously stated that Momoa was his first choice for the character, who is expected to play an unpredictable, but major, role in the new DCU, possibly leading to his own spin-off project.

Woman of Tomorrow Takes Flight

The trailer also provided a vibrant look at the space-faring, darker tone of the film, which is based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s acclaimed comic arc.

  • Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) stars as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, who, unlike her cousin Superman, is presented as a more cynical, jaded, and battle-hardened hero who witnessed the full destruction of Krypton. The footage shows Kara getting drunk on a red-sun planet, highlighting her unique characterization.
  • The plot follows Supergirl on a “murderous quest for revenge” after she teams up with a young alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), to hunt down the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts).

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, directed by Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, as the second major theatrical release in the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
